CSIR-STEPRI Holds 3rd Open Day

The CSIR-STEPRI today held its 3rd Open day to showsase its activities and undertakings to its partners and the General Public.The event was also used to commemorate the 6oth Anniversary of the CSIR-Ghana. 

The Theme for the celebration was " CSIR- 60 Years of Research with Impact for Sustainable DEvelopment: The Role of Science, Technology and Innnovation(STI) policy Research." The day was chaired by Mr Kwesi Attah-Antwi, (National Director, REP amd also the Board Chair of the CSIR0-STEPRI Board). Dr Wilhemina  Quaye, the Director of CSIR STEPRI gave the welcome address and also the purpose fo the event. This was followed by  a 15 minute Video Documentary on the collaborations STEPRI has had with its partners and collaborators over the years.

Prof. Victor Agyeman, the Director General of The CSIR,Ghana  gave his opening address which was followed by a short address by the Chairman of the CSIR Council, Prof. Kingsford Adabor who urged STEPRI to continue to forge along the path that it was charting for itself. Dr Isaac Mensah Bonsu (Member of  both NDPC and the CSIR Council) , who was the Guest of Honour gave his remarks to bring to a close the first part of the  morning session. The gathering then moved to an exhibition where the works of the institute. on display was books, paper publications, leaflets, policy briefs, project videos etc for the perusal of the general public.  

Part two of the day saw presentations from the Divisional Heads to throw light on what they are involved in. The institute has three technical Divisons, which are Agriculture, Environment Medicine Division (AMED), Industry and Service (I&S) Division  and then Commercialization anf Information Division (CID).  There were also two other technical presentations on STI as critical tool for National Development  and ICT: Power of Social Media to bring the day to an end.
