The Global Network for the Economic of Learning Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (GLOBELICS), is an open and diverse community of scholars working on innovation and competence building in the context of economic development. The major purpose of the network is to contribute to building capacity and create a forum for exchange worldwide in the innovation and development research field. The Network has various events including PhD academies and Conferences. The Conference is a natural incubator for international research projects and a platform where project groups with worldwide participation meet, present and coordinate their research work.

In 2018 Ghana will host the 16th edition of the conference.To this end, the CSIR-Science Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI) has been nominated as the local organizing institution to host the Conference. The programme will have conference-style session (research paper and poster presentations) in parallel sessions; plenary discussions addressing the specific theme; cultural event/sight-seeing; gala dinner; exhibition of innovations in Ghana; and Students case competition. The government of Ghana seeks to create jobs and transform to rural economy and this can only be catalyzed by innovations and hence the output of the conference is expected to contribute immensely to the government in achieving its policy objectives in that regard.

This years conference, GLOBELICS 2017, the 15th of its kind is currently ongoing in Athens, Greece. CSIR-STEPRI has a strong team led by the Director, Dr. George Essegbey in attendance to make a case for our preparedness to host the 16th GLOBELICS Conference in Accra. This will make Ghana the 4th Africa country after South Africa, Senegal and Ethiopia to host the GLOBELICS annual conference.
