CSIR Female Researchers Launch Directory

CSIR-STEPRI on the 13th of Dec,2016, played host to the female Senior Members of the entire Council for Scientific and Industrial Research when they lauched a Directory of Femele Research Scientists within the Council.

The charmain of the occasion was the Director-General of the CSIR, Dr. Victor Kwame Agyeman. He applauded the ladies for their contributions to the growth of the council and urged them to take advantage of the systems in place to upgrade themselves. He also commended them for the efforts they have put into coming out with the Directory.

Dr George O. Essegbey, Director of the CSIR-STEPRI in his welcome address also commemeded the ladies and tasked the to use the Directory as a vehicle for motivating young female students to aspire to venture into the sciences.

Prof. Rose Mamaa Entsuah-Mensah, the Deputy Director-General of the CSIR and the motivator of the project, urged the lady scientists not to see themselves as second to men but rather strive hard to assert themselves in equal measure in whatever field they find themselves.

Prof Leticia Obeng in a speech read on her behalf lauded and gave a history of Ghanaian women scientist since colonial times and  entreated the ladies not to let the men over shadow them in all fields of endeavour.

Prof. Aba Andam, a renouned Physicist and the Vice President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences was the special guest of honour.In her speech to launch the Directory, she used biblical references to point to the special nature of women and urged them to use that special ability to contibute to the development of mother Ghana.

The Director-General of the CSIR, Dr. Victor Kwame Agyeman assisted Prof Andan to unviel the Directory.
